Grow your own enormous red and green striped apples in the garden with this handsome variety for a large garden and a ‘must have’ for orchards. ‘Howgate Wonder’ apples bridge the gap between 'cookers' and 'eaters' with a sharp, juicy flavour if eaten fresh from the tree. A majestic, strong growing variety, which boasts good crops of extremely large cooking apples, with classic red and green striped skins. The crisp white flesh is sharp and tangy, but not as acidic as Bramley. Harvest your crops in October and store them right through to March.Apple rootstock: M26 - Dwarf reaching a mature height of 2.5-3m (8-10').Estimated time to cropping once planted: 2 years.Estimated time to best yields: 5 years.Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size.
