Thompson and Morgan’s Bramley Apple Maiden is one of the most famous cooking apples of all! Throughout October it will produce large fruits with a sharp acidic flavour that are ideal for making tasty pies and delicious crumbles. They are also highly recommended by top chefs for making luscious purees. Apple 'Bramley's Seedling' has great disease resistance to scab and mildew and was awarded an RHS AGM. Pick 'Bramley' apples from October when mature for immediate use or lay the fruits in a cool dry place for winter storage. They will store for up to 3 months.Fruit trees do not suffer weed competition well. In spring, while the ground is moist, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of the tree, taking care not to mound it up against the stem. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Feed and water apple trees during particularly dry periods.Pruning apple trees begins immediately after planting. For the following 3 years, prune only the tips of the remaining main branches by one third in winter.
