Product Description :

Quince are an attractive and unusual fruit to grow in your garden. Freshly picked quinces are bitter and inedible, but once cooked they soften to make delicious jams and jellies. They also enhance the flavour of apple pies when a few slices are added before cooking. This bare root tree will mature into an attractive specimen, with beautiful, rounded silver leaves and pretty green-pink flowers in spring. Its large, fragrant, pear-shaped fruits ripen to a lovely shade of yellow and can be harvested from October. Height: up to 100cm. Spread: up to 60cm.. Quince rootstock: Quince A - Semi vigorous reaching a mature height of up to 3m (10') to 4m (13').. This variety is self-fertile and does not require a pollination partner.. Estimated time to cropping once planted: 2 years.. Estimated time to best yields: 5 years. Please note: patio trees are derived from clonal selections for dwarfism which ensures a particularly compact growth habit of around 1m (39") in height.Plant quince trees in reliably moist soil, neutral to acid soil in a sheltered sunny position. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole and drive the stake into the ground to support the tree. Staking after planting may result in damage to the root ball. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level and firm them into the ground. Fasten the tree to the stake using a tree tie, and water well. Please note: This product cannot be delivered outside the United Kingdom.Product specifications:. Position: Full Sun.
