Thompson & Morgan Clematis ‘Miss Bateman’ bears a display of dazzling white flowers with a pale green stripe and contrasting red anthers that bring refreshing, early summer simplicity to your garden. Initially flowering from May to June, this clematis will also produce a second flush of slightly smaller blooms in late summer. A compact climber, Thompson & Morgan Clematis ‘Miss Bateman’ is a popular, tried and tested variety that is well suited to growing in large containers. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded area when growing Thompson & Morgan Clematis ‘Miss Bateman’ and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, positioning the top of the root ball at a depth of 7.5cm (3”) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry, however these soil types can be improved with the addition of plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in containers, use a soil based compost. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
