In late spring, Thompson & Morgan Clematis ‘Piilu’ bears eye-catching, double blooms with a central mauve-pink bar that fades outwards to a paler pink. A second flush of flowers blooms in autumn, giving you two displays per year! With a compact growth habit, Thompson & Morgan Clematis ‘Piilu’ is ideal for growing in patio containers. Choose a position in sun or semi shade when growing Thompson & Morgan Clematis ‘Piilu’ and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, positioning the root ball at a depth of 7.5cm below soil level, in order to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry, however these conditions can be improved with the addition of plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost. If growing in patio containers, use a good quality soil-based compost. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
