Thompson and Morgan’s Aubergine ‘Meatball’ really is the meatiest of all aubergines. This perfect, globe-shaped fruit grows up to 13cm across with heavy flesh which only has a few seeds, making the flavour sweeter than other varieties. This fruit makes a great addition to any dish, particularly as a meat substitute for vegetarian dishes. The Aubergine ‘Meatball’ combines the very best traits of both heritage and modern hybrid varieties.Aubergines grow best at temperatures of 25-30C (77-86F) with high humidity levels. Stake aubergine plants as they increase in size and pinch out the main growing tip to encourage a bushy habit. Once the first flowers have set, feed aubergines every 2 weeks with a high potash tomato feed. Restricting the crop to 5 or 6 per plant will produce the largest fruits.
