Create your own stylish, pond to make an attractive, alternative and tranquil water feature on your patio. This kit comprises everything you need to make the feature, including planting bowl, gravel, compost and the three beautiful aquatic plant varieties. Iris pseudacorus with tall stems topped with golden flowers, Acorus calamus 'Argenteostriatus' with elegant variegated foliage, and Pontederia cordata with heart shaped foliage and purple flower spikes. Empty the soil mix into the aquatic planting basket, and plant the bareroots so that the growing point sits just below the soil surface. Cover the surface of the soil with the gravel to hold the compost in place. It is recommended that the planting basket is gently submerged in a bucket of water to allow the compost to become completely soaked through. This will allow any loose compost to float to the surface before you position it in the main planting bowl. Place the planting bowl in its final position - choose a sunny or lightly shaded spot. Transfer the planting basket to the bowl and then gently fill with water. Keep the planting bowl topped up with water at all times. The perennials in this collection will need dividing and repotting each spring to maintain their vigour.
