Itea Virginica 'Little Henry' - An unusual but extraordinary plant. Commonly known as Sweet Spire, this plant has narrow green leaves which transform into shades of fiery red to deep purple, creating a fabulous autumn display. Itea Virginica 'Little Henry' has aromatic, long cream flowers in upright, stiff racemes which emerge from late spring and early summer. Thriving best in acidic soils, this hardy shrub is perfect for woodland gardens and borders Ideal For: Cottage Gardens, Specimen Plant, Woodland Garden Hardiness: Hardy Position In: Sun or semi shade, dappled shade Height: Up to 100cm Spread: Up to 150cm Itea Virginica 'Little Henry' is supplied as 1x 3.6 Litre Pot Grow Itea in fertile, slightly acid soil. Sweet Spire enjoys moist, well drained conditions that don’t dry out in summer. Choose a position in part shade with shelter from cold, dry winds. Feed and water Itea plants regularly until fully established. Prune Itea after flowering, cutting back to strong buds. Mature specimens can be further pruned to remove a quarter of the old stems from the base of the plant. Although perfectly hardy when mature, young Itea plants will appreciate a deep, dry mulch to protect the roots in winter.
