Also more commonly known as the Chinese Sweetshrub, this handsome deciduous shrub is extremely rare to UK gardens. Growing up to 3m in height and with a spread of up to around 4m this medium-sized, bushy shrub is perfect for using as a stand-alone specimen. Large pearly white magnolia-like flowers, bloom in early summer on the end of shoots. They have large white petals with an inner ring of contrasting pale yellow petals that are sure to be noticed. As well as this the shrub is made up of glossy dark green foliage which fades throughout the year, turning a shade of buttery yellow in the autumn months. The Chinese Sweetshrub has a pleasing fragrance, with aromatic foliage and sweet perfumed flowers it is sure set the senses racing. The scents will be more noticeable, but not overpowering in the evening after a warm day. This intriguing plant makes for an interesting talking point. The sweet perfumed scent emitted from the flowers and bright colours will attract wildlife such as bees and butterflies to your garden and will not commonly be recognised by many of the keenest of gardeners! Calycanthus Chinensis requires well-drained, moist soil and to be positioned in either full sun or partial shade. However, they will need to be planted in an area where they can be sheltered from the harshest of weathers as they may not withstand exposed conditions. They are suitable for planting at the back of borders or as a stand-alone shrub. Height: 3m (10’) and Spread: 4m (13’). This item will be supplied in a 9cm Nursery Pot.
