‘Superba’ is a truly “superb” variety of Berberis due to its rich autumnal colours all year round. You can expect wondrous fiery burgundy red foliage to transcend to a deep glowy purple as the plant matures, with the added bonus of dainty yellow blooms and scarlet red berries in the Spring. Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged. To keep hedges in good shape, trim back lightly after flowering each year. You should also remove dead, diseased or damaged growth. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
