Product Description :

Tayberry Rubus is a reliable fruit bush which is a cross between a loganberry and a black raspberry. The result of this cross is an abundant summer crop of large, flavoursome fruits up to 5cm long. The deliciously sweet fruits are best picked when they’ve changed colour from deep red to purple – they’re a great fruit for eating fresh or for use in puddings, pies and jams. As a heavy cropper, it’s useful to note that you can pick and freeze any that you don’t use for later! Unlike many other Tayberry varieties, the stems of British-bred Tayberry Rubus are thronless, making harvesting much easier and more all the more enjoyable. This fast-growing plant thrives in a sunny spot, where it will establish quickly to produce a rewarding harvest every year.Plant tayberry bushes in a sunny position in any well drained soil. When growing tayberry plants, support the stems on a framework of wires stretched between sturdy 1.8m (6') posts, or trained against a trellis or wall. Water well for the first year until tayberry plants are fully established. Cover the plants with netting to protect the crop from birds as tayberry fruits begin to develop. Tayberry fruits can be harvested from July onwards. In autumn, prune the canes which have fruited over summer to ground level. Canes which have not fruited should be 'tied in' to their supports. In spring, while the ground is moist, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes to improve moisture retention throughout the summer.Position: Full Sun. Height: Up to 2m when fully established. Spread: Up to 2.5m when fully established. Supplied as 1 x Tayberry Rubus Plant in a 3L pot..
