Philadelphus Coronarius - Commonly known as Mock Orange, this hardy shrub provides a beautiful, intense orange blossom scent. Its soft white blooms have a background of a mass of bright green foliage which makes an excellent hedge or border. Its easy to grow and maintain and is ideal for a variety of gardens and areas. Ideal For: Cottage Gardens, Scented Gardens, Wildlife Gardens, Low Maintenance Garden, Specimen Plant Hardiness: Hardy Position In: Sun or semi shade Height: Up to 300cm Spread: Up to 250cm Grow Philadelphus plants in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Mock Orange plants at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Philadelphus requires little pruning.
