Part of the 'Endless Summer' range, these unique reblooming Hydrangeas are neat and compact, flowering constantly throughout summer from May to September. Masses of violet blue or mauve pink blooms, depending on the pH of your soil. The striking blooms, each measuring up to 13cm, are carried on beautiful bright red shoots that create a wonderful contrast with the dark green foliage. As autumn progresses, the foliage takes centre stage as it colours to shades of red and gold. This superb variety is perfect for growing as a specimen plant in borders or containers and makes a lovely addition to a cut flower garden or woodland area. With a sturdy growth habit, 'Endless Summer' Hydrangeas show good disease resistance particularly to mildew. Hydrangea macrophylla prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively, plant hydrangea macrophylla in patio containers in soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant.
