Microphylla ‘Superba’ have a powerful, sweet perfume that is hard to resist. The compact habit of this striking Lilac makes it incredibly versatile. Plants are ideal for large patio containers and small gardens, or can also be trained into a fragrant, colourful hedge or grown against a wall. Grow Thompson & Morgan lilac plants in rich, fertile, well-drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Dwarf lilac plants many be grown in containers if preferred using a loam based compost such as John Innes No.3. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season whole young plants become established. Prune lilac bushes in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping the remaining stems. After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub.
