Thompson & Morgan Rhododendron ‘Moerheim’ makes a lovely feature in borders or patio containers, bearing masses of frilly, violet-blue blooms that cover its evergreen foliage during spring. A compact, spreading habit makes it perfect as an ideal low maintenance shrub for year-round colour. Thompson & Morgan Rhododendron ‘Moerheim’ is easy grow, and has also been awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Choose a sheltered position in semi or dappled shade when growing Thompson & Morgan ‘Moerheim’ and plant in moist, well-drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost. Dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with sunnier positions, provided the soil remains moist. Where soil conditions are naturally alkaline, Rhododendrons are best growin in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous and soil-based composts. Avoid planting too deeply as Rhododendrons are surface rooting. Water Thompson & Morgan Rhododendron ‘Moerheim’ frequently throughout the growing season, using rain water where possible, as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in soil over time. Feed with a slow-release fertiliser for acid-loving plants in spring, and protect from cold winds.
