A ‘twist’ on a traditional Gardenia, this interesting house plant is a Standard Gardenia that has been trained with an attractive decorative twisted stem. This extra touch makes the perfumed beauty an excellent gift for loved ones, or a delightful treat for yourself. Commonly known as a Cape Jasmine, this stunning indoor plant is great for positioning in a sunny spot as a focal point so its beauty and fragrance can be fully appreciated. Gardenias are not the easiest house plants to grow, and are often discarded after flowering. However, they are well worth making an extra effort for! Gardenias require careful placement to thrive. Choose a brightly lit position, but not in the direct glare of the sun, with a constant temperature above 16C (60F). Avoid positions close to cold draughts and radiators. Water freely between spring and autumn using tepid rainwater where possible, and allowing the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to dry out. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Gardenia appreciates a humid atmosphere - stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant.
