Phlox ‘Purple Eye Flame; is a fabulous RHS AGM variety, prized for its long-flowering season, exceptional flower fragrance and resilience. This reliable variety is a great choice for cottage gardens, producing dense clusters of scented purple flowers, each bloom marked with a striking white centre for added detail. This mid-height phlox is ideal for planting in natural groups in mixed borders, where the blooms will not only look and smell divine, but also provide a haven for bees and butterflies. This fully hardy, clump-forming perennial produces multiple stems on each plant which makes them excellent cut-flower material. Snip a few stems at a time and enjoy the colour and fragrance in your home too! Grow phlox plants in any fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting. Feed and water regularly, particularly during dry periods, until young phlox plants are fully established. After flowering, lightly shear the stems to encourage lots of fresh new growth.
