Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata' is a sought after shrub for any winter garden, and its success has won it an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Fill your garden with beautiful spring scent from as early as Christmas with this award winning Daphne odora Aureomarginata. This hardy, evergreen shrub has a rounded, compact habit, and glossy, gold-edged leaves. Perfect for growing in patio containers and borders, it adds structure all year round, with the addition of highly scented pink flowers during late winter and early spring. Ideal For: Cottage Gardens, Scented Gardens, Wildlife Gardens, Low Maintenance Gardens, Specimen Plant, Woodland Gardens. Pot up Daphne shrubs and grow them on in frost-free conditions. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for a period of 7 to 10 days prior to planting in their final positions. Transplant Daphne plants into borders and containers outdoors in moist, fertile, well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade. When growing in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Daphne resents root disturbance so try to avoid this when transplanting as this may delay plant establishment. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, Daphne plants require only occasional attention. Pruning of Daphne is best kept to a minimum, removing only occasional damage stems and lightly trimming those that spoil the shape of the plant in summer after flowering.
