Named for its stunning, brick red autumn colour, Thompson & Morgan Parthenocissus Quinquefolia ‘Troki Red Wall’ is an excellent deciduous climber, perfect for quickly smothering an unsightly fence or wall. The large, five lobed leaves appear in spring along long, self-clinging vines, and soon start to form an entire covering of rich, dark green. At the end of summer, the foliage starts to turn a vibrant red which adds drama and heat to any garden as the nights draw in. Thompson & Morgan Virginia Creeper is very easy to grow, needing little maintenance at all, only the occasional pruning to keep it within its desired area. Grow Virginia Creeper in any fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or deep to partial shade. Train the stems onto sturdy wires attached to walls and fences. Plants will give their best autumn colour in a slightly shaded position. Prune Thompson & Morgan Parthenocissus plants as and when required throughout the season, removing longer shoots to keep plants in control. Tie shoots onto their supporting wires regularly to maintain the desired shape.
