Rich, purple-bronze foliage provides a magnificent contrast with the deep pink, trumpet shaped blooms. From late spring to early summer the nectar rich flowers of Weigela ‘Victoria’ attracts bees and other pollinators to the garden. This enchanting deciduous shrub has a compact, upright habit that can be easily accommodated in mixed borders. Versatile and easy to grow, Weigela is a useful shrub that will tolerate most gardens and needs little maintenance. Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi-shaded position, in any well-drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
