A listed building with its original name was the first coaching inn within a village designed on behalf of the then Duke of Buccleuch in the late 18th century as a result of the Scottish Land Clearances of 1790. Fruit & veg is from a local Dumfries Supplier Our fish is fantastic Haddock straight from the North Atlantic through our suppliers to us. Our famous Stornoway Blackpudding is prepared & sent direct from Stornoway by Charles Macleod on Stornoway. Cant get better than that! Pioneer Foods and Booker Wholesale in Carlisle Cumbria are so helpful with supplies we couldnt do without them! Overall we try very hard to maintain a very high standard of food but try it for yourselves you wont be disappointed.
Newcastleton is around 25 miles north of Carlisle and around 1 hour s drive from Dumfries. The Northumberland National Park is a 45-minute drive from the hotel and Gretna Green lies around 20 miles away.
