Shimplingthorne is a Glorious haven of tranquillity and charm. Originally a 13thC Monastery now a stunning comfortable home moated and settled in the crescent of ancient woodland at the end of a private mile drive. Each of the varied and beautifully decorated rooms nod to the various periods in which the monastery was renovated. In the summer the sun streams in and in the winter there are huge fires in the drawings rooms to keep you warm. There are two indulgent four poster rooms and one French style bedroom . All overlooking the moat with its black swans and paddocks and horses beyond. Flat screen TVs. Egyptian cotton sheets robes and other luxuries will ensure that you have a wonderful and spoiling experience.

Breakfast is served in the fabulous dining room Food is sourced locally . There is always a choice and special diets can be catered for. I like cooking !After breakfast maybe take a coffee and sit by the moat where you can enjoy the peace and hear the bird song from the ancient woodland.



Take a stroll around the stunning grounds and along the Monks Walk to say hello to the goats horses and array of swans and ducks or pick up the footpath directly from here and enjoy a maze of routes . A walk to the local pub across the fields or the two nearby churches.

We are ideally located between Long Melford and Lavenham steeped in history and spectacular architecture where there are many pubs restaurants and very fine dining . Sudbury and the lovely Market Town of Bury st Edmunds are close . Cambridge less than an hour . A peaceful sanctuary for race goers who would like to be out of town Newmarket is only 19miles . Under an hour to Stanstead. There are many interesting things to do and places to enjoy.
