The Threshing House is a 400 year old converted barn. Items of old farm machinery are displayed complementing the solid stone walls and arrow slit windows. The house is set in an acre of land mostly grass on a gentle south facing slope. There is a vegetable garden providing fresh produce and a chicken run the source of our fresh eggs. From the bedroom windows and the garden the views are spectacular. Close by is Darley Farm and the former farm buildings all in the same beautiful granite stonework and the famous Darley Oak reputed to be over 1000 years old. Beyond are views of Bodmin Moor Cheesewring Caradon Hill and Kit Hill. In between are the gentle slopes of the Lynher Inny and Tamar Rivers with Dartmoor in the distance.
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room with views onto the garden. Breakfast is a full Cornish breakfast or Continental. Eggs are from our chickens local bacon and sausages and home-made preserves.
Dogs are welcome to stay at The Threshing House by prior arrangement at no extra charge (dog sitting service available)
The King ensuite bedroom can accommodate an extra bed and /or cot (see tariff) and a high chair is available.
We aim to be environmentally friendly at The Threshing House by growing our own fruit and vegetables. Our chickens are ex battery birds enjoying a new lease of life. We run a towel and sheet re-use policy to save water and energy consumption and we recycle as much as possible.
The Threshing House is just over 1 mile from Minions Cornwall s highest village the famous Cheesewring dramatic granite slabs and The Hurlers stone circles. The area is rich in mining history with chimneys engine houses and stone railway tracks still visible - a reminder of Cornwall s long mining tradition. The Threshing House is located in 3 designated areas - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Area of Great Scientific Value and Area of Great Historic Value. So something for everyone!
