Old Mill Farmhouse Fron Oleu Farm Trawsfynydd lies mid-way between Porthmadog and Dolgellau in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. It was once the home of the village corn miller and dates back to the late fifteen hundreds. Fron Oleu means light on the hill and the late afternoon sun bathes the fields and garden in a beautiful golden glow. Trawsfynydd means across the mountains . Whichever way you travel the road rises as it threads its way to Trawsfynydd which is set on a hill six hundred feet above sea level and is completely encircled by the glorious mountain ranges of Snowdonia. The name was given to the village by the Romans.



The seven guest rooms at Old Mill Farmhouse sleeping 19 people in double twin and family accommodation are in attractively converted old farm buildings and all on the ground floor. Every room has its own front door - very useful for late arrivals or people with pets and its own TV hospitality tray and en-suite shower room. One room has a wet room and is suitable for families small groups or wheelchair users. Two rooms are very small. There is ample parking in the courtyard. Complimentary wifi is available.



The pretty garden overlooks the lake and mountains. An extensive garden scale railway based on the Denver and Rio Grande railroad fascinates the visitors depending on the weather we run the trains after breakfast. Animal lovers enjoy meeting our llamas and chickens. We use our own free-range eggs for breakfast.



Old Mill Farmhouse is ideally situated for the beaches castles slate mines adventure activities and narrow-gauge railways in the area. It is 5 minutes drive from Coed-y-Brenin mountain bike centre (and we have lockable bike storage ) and 20 minutes from the Antur Stiniog downhill bike trails and the Llechwydd Zip Wires. So whether you like adventure fishing walking bird watching photography or just visiting places it s all within easy reach. Pets welcome by arrangement.
