The Blazing Donkey is a 22 bedroom country hotel perfectly situated at Ham near Sandwich Bay and only an hour from London. The hotel s feel is informal and relaxing. Broadstairs Margate Ramsgate and the city of Canterbury are all within a short drive and Dover is close-by too making us the perfect stop off for those on the way to and from the continent. This a real get-away location truly rural yet also within easy reach of so very much to do. And we ve turned the traditional hotel layout on its head in our own idiosyncratic way. Set in beautifully kept grounds is the main house once a farm dwelling- now sympathetically restored and home to our main bar reception restaurant and lounge areas. Gone is the formality though replaced with deep oversized sofas and arm chairs to properly curl up in beside one of our inviting roaring fires. There s no polished panelling pelmets or fitted carpets instead stripped back blonde floorboards and flagstones take pride of place. In the warmer months guests may enjoy super views of the gardens from the raised terrace while enjoying a glass of Kentish fizz or one our latest craft ales. Whether on business or pleasure a truly relaxing and friendly atmosphere is what you ll get at the Donkey. Our kitchens produce daily changing menu s inspired from local produce. Our food is unashamedly British and you may expect to find some amazing modern twists on the classic favourites. Breakfast morning coffee lunch afternoon tea dinner as well as snacks are available every day.
For a personalised experience we are are on hand and can assist with a range of services during your stay including golf tee times and pamper days. English Heritage sites with cathedrals castles and ancient attractions are in abundance locally too. Margate s Turner Contemporary gallery is nearby along with much of the Kent coast ripe for exploration. Whether seal watching taking a rib-ride around the coast you ll be able to fill your days with fun
