I was a student here and I must say this was one of the worst special needs schools I have ever been to and I am glad they got shut down. Most of the staff were rude, unkind, unfit for the job and lacked any respect for the students. My learning difficulties include struggling to concentrate and listen in class because of my aspergers and ADHD and not only did the staff never help me with those difficulties, but they instead told me off and punished me for it even though it's a learning difficulty that I have. Other students with the same needs I had never got any help either and were also treated unfairly for the same reasons. The staff never once tried to be understanding or helpful. Quite often they also punished students for reflexes too such as giggling and yawning, even though they're hard to control because they're reflexes. In general the staff were very rude and disrespectful, always speaking to students in sarcastic and condescending ways, talking to them in an aggressive tone when they tell students to do something, snapping their fingers at the students to get them to hurry up with their work even if they were already working hard, and I remember they would tell students to Shut Up for no reason and call them stupid behind their backs. If I had that attitude towards the teachers, I would have been kicked put and yet they think they can get away with treating students like that. There was no mutual respect at this school. Sometimes the staff would also tease and humiliate students for no reason other than childish spite. During free time I was using my laptop and I was doodling over an image of some female character on MS paint and two class assistants came over and decided to embarrass me in front of everyone, saying "Oooh look everyone this student has a girlfriend" and there was another time where one teacher decided to humiliate one student by telling everyone a story in front of him about how he threw a tantrum at his mum to get him a new toy, granted that was not mature of the student to throw his a tantrum at his mum like that, but to humiliate him in front of everyone like that is disgusting and abuse of authority. The sad part is many people, parents in particular, have been fooled into thinking this was an amazing, caring place when they were anything but. And when they were closing down, they received news media coverage where they played the victim card to get everyone to donate money to them as if they were being shut down unfairly, but really they were put into special measures by ofsted because they weren't running the school properly. I think the people running this school cared more about their reputation rather than actually making the school a good place.
