The Old Post Office, sitting in the heart of Wallingford’s market Square is a Modern Public House and Mediterranean Restaurant. This is the second venture for Oakman Inns & Restaurants, the first being the award winning and extremely popular Pub and Restaurant, The Akeman which can be found in centre of the buzzing Market Town, Tring, Hertfordshire. The Old Post Office building has been lovingly refurbished by Oakman Inns & Restaurants and now boasts a welcoming atmosphere for all age groups. The Modern yet comfortable bar attracts a wide range of people; Mums and their babies can enjoy their morning coffee in a relaxed environment while older children can enjoy the facilities available, like colouring and reading material, which makes parents visits to The Old Post Office a child friendly experience. Wine lovers can sample a high quality of Italian and French wines whilst studying the rest of the extensive wine list, where they’ll find many available by the glass, carafe and bottle. These can be enjoyed by either relaxing on the decking or over dinner in the restaurant, where the wait staff will happily help match wine to your food choice. Moving into the restaurant, you’ll find a lively atmosphere, largely made up of the fabulous open kitchen which sits in the centre of the Restaurant. Showing off not only Carlo Tolu and his team of chefs hard at work, but also the impressive Josper Oven. This wonderful piece of kitchen equipment, originating from Spain, is where all vegetables, locally sourced meats and fresh fish from Billingsgate Market are lovingly cooked.
