Smithson Farm is a small family run site which has beautiful Glamping Pods and a quirky Shepherd s Hut all of which sleep two adults only and a superb Family Lodge which sleeps two adults and two children all of these are equipped to a very high standard. We also take touring caravans and some tents. Situated in the Heart of Pendle Witch Country we are ideally placed to visit the coastal towns of Blackpool and Southport the market towns of Clitheroe and Skipton and the beautiful countryside of the Trough of Bowland an area of outstanding natural beauty. We have quality toilets and showers and are accessible to visitors with disabilities. We have cafe on site which serves breakfast from 8am and then lunches snacks and evening meals as required. We do all our own baking and make jams and chutneys from the fruit grown in the orchard on the site and these are on sale in the cafe. If you wish to dine off site there are many quality restaurants and pubs serving excellent food just a few minutes drive away some of them very family friendly with indoor and outdoor play areas and children s menus.
We are a family friendly site and welcome well behaved children with responsible parents we have many rescued animals and birds including eight Shetland Ponies and two African Grey Parrots (these two talk incessantly) and children are encouraged to both pet and feed the animals (watching little fingers of course).
For Culture Vultures we have an onsite Coal Mining Museum with a collection of memorabilia that would rival the National this was set up by us as the site is where in the early 1900s Woodend Colliery stood and now we honour the men who toiled underground to power a Nation and whose efforts have largely been forgotten and so quite often Miners will call in to see us and always have a tale to tell especially to the children. We attract guests from as far afield as Saudi Arabia Russia Australia and most of Europe as well as people from within a 10 mile radius
