The nearest train station is Fratton (c1 mile). The fastest trains from London are from Waterloo. All Portsmouth bound trains stop there then and then go on to Portsmouth and Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour. There is also a direct train from Gatwick that takes about an hour. From the Ferry port it is best to get a taxi directly.



The Pyramids leisure centre Southsea castle and D-Day Museum are also a few minutes walk from the apartment across the common at the bottom of the road. A little further is Canoe Lake (with play park model village boating lake tennis courts beach pier areas to picnic snack bars crazy golf tea rooms etc. You can catch the bus to the Historic dockyard with its multiple naval attractions including the famous HMS Victory Mary Rose and many other fascinating displays from the history of the Royal Navy. Gunwharf Quays which is next door to the Historic Dockyard is an outlet mall and has multiple waterfront restaurants and a cinema (buses run every 8-10 minutes and take about 20 mins to get there). There is pretty much everything on the doorstep and the buses are good and taxis are inexpensive
