The unusually clear waters are great for swimming and are very safe as they now are patrolled by RNLI lifeguards during the summer. There are plenty of watersports available in the area such as boating sailing kayaking sea fishing windsurfing and water skiing. There have been over 30 historical shipwrecks in the area making it an ideal attraction for scuba divers.

Across Harbour Beach lies Inner Hope the original village. The Old Lifeboat House is at the head of the slipway and beyond this are the fishermen s cottages and a traditional Devon Square which is surrounded by old thatched cottages unspoiled by modern development.
