Set on the river front in the shadow of St Helens, The Old Anchor is beautifully located and is now under new ownership. We have completed an extensive yet tasteful refurbishment that really brings out the character of the pub that dates back to 1819. With 3 log fires and plenty of outside seating The Old Anchor is the perfect location to meet up with friends and family whatever the weather.

We are passionate about locally sourced, seasonal, great pub food. The menu is predominately British with traditional pub classics featuring strongly. Daily specials take advantage of the freshest and finest ingredients that our head chef has sourced from local producers and markets. Sundays are sacred – our Roasts are infamous in the area so get in early to bag yourself a seat next to a real log fire! But The Old Anchor isn’t just about great food we have carefully chosen a wide range of wines, soft drinks, bottled beers, draught lagers, ales and ciders, to suit all tastes.
