The Rifle Volunteer is set in the County of Hertfordshire in the small town of Ware. The history of this Public House and Bed & Breakfast dates from around 1841 when it was owned by a Ware maltster. By 1850 it was the named The Union Jack until at least 1864. It then became The Rifle Volunteer after the brave men and women who picked there Rifles and formed a citizen army of part timers and created a popular movement in the British Empire in 1859.

The Maltman Statue Erected in 1999 to celebrate the largest Maltmaking Town in England.
The Priory & Fletcher Lee They are the remains of a fourteenth-century friary which are now the local council offices and a conference centre and wedding venue situated within seven acres of picturesque riverside gardens. Opposite the priory is the large fourteenth-century parish church of St. Mary. It is known for its elaborate font with large carved stone figures.
Ware Museum - The museum is partially housed inside an original Second World War Command Bunker used to co-ordinate local defences and respond to air-raids.
The town is also famous for its many 18th-century riverside gazebos several of which have been restored.
The High Street has everything from shops bars coffee shops cafes restaurants hairdressers Boots Tesco Sainsbury s. And with the River Lee flowing through the centre of Ware it has access to lovely riverside walks and wildlife.
