Set in the picturesque village of Walkington we are just three miles from Beverley with its wonderful Minster traditional Market Square and shops. With Beverley racecourse just over one mile away York and the East Coast towns of Hornsea Bridlington and Scarborough nearby there is plenty to see and do in the area.
The Ferguson Fawsitt was named after two important local families. The original license at the Ferguson Fawsitt was granted in 1866 when J.D. Ferguson brother of the rector married wealthy heiress Miss. Eliza Fawsitt. The original name of the pub was The Bay Horse
The pub itself now fondly known locally as the Fergie serves a varied menu all of which is homemade. From meat preparation to pastry sauces to smoking fish every element of every meal we make is made on site including desserts and cakes.
The only thing that isn t currently made onsite is the bread and we are proud to say that our sliced bread is from our sister company Jacksons Jacksons Yorkshires Champion Bloomer.
We cater very much for food allergies and intolerances. Many items on our menu are gluten free and much of it can be adapted to become gluten free at the customer s request. We have vegetarian options but we also cater for vegans and will make every effort to ensure we cater for all needs.
Within in the bar area is a traditional double sided log burner which offers a sense of warmth and comfort. There is a brighter lounge area and a recent addition of a modern coffee shop serving coffee blended in Yorkshire especially for The Fergie to accompany our homemade cakes and tray bakes.
We also have a range of quality wines a varying range of local real ales (part of the CAMRA LocAle scheme) and a choice of premium lagers.
The 10 bedroom lodge is situated away from the main building giving peace and quiet in a contemporary but cosy environment.
