The Kings Inn built in 1705 during the construction of General Wade s roads is reputedly the oldest surviving building in Fort Augustus.
The original inn now separated into three dwellings has had several famous guests in the past including: Samuel Taylor Coleridge Boswell and Dr Johnson. If you chose to stay with us your names would then be added to this illustrious list.
Our B&B has been modernized to provide two comfortable double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms. Both rooms are on the ground floor with a connecting hallway ideal for families or groups of 4 people.
The rooms are centrally heated and equipped with satellite TV DVD free WIFI and a generous hospitality tray. A range of breakfast options including our Full Scottish Breakfast are freshly made to order.
Kings Inn is within easy walking distance of numerous pubs restaurants shops and the local 9-hole golf course as well as tourist attractions such as the Caledonian Canal and of course Loch Ness.
Fort Augustus is an ideal base to explore the Highlands. Ben Nevis (Skiing and World Mountain Bike Centre) Inverness (airport and rail connections) Fort William (Harry Potter train) are all less than an hour away by car. Skye Aviemore Glen Coe Glen Affric Culloden Fort George and the Black Isle can all be reached within an hour and a half.
We are surrounded by mountains lochs rivers forests castles and abundant wildlife providing year round activities for all interests and ages. Alternatively just relax in the village and watch the boats pass through the flight of locks or maybe even catch a glimpse of the elusive Nessie!
We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our B&B.
