St Sidwell was saying her daily prayers when her head was decapitated by a scythe .Legend has it that where her head fell so a Spring of water began to flow forth after 3 days St Sidwell somehow picked her head up and walked the short distance to a spot where a Church was built atop sadly this Church took a Direct hit from a Bomb during WW2. The Church and the Well were a Pilgrimage site up until the late 15th Century. The well was capped in 1880 and uncovered in May 2014. What was uncovered is a 12th Century structure that has been preserved within the shop below.
