The Plough has 6 luxury classic rooms and suites which are aptly named after former landowners of Lupton (Lupeton) dating as far back as Torsin in the Domesday survey of 1058 to Sir Richard Musgrave in 1681. Each room is individually decorated in the calming earthy tones of Farrow and Ball and large sash windows give a light and airy ambience. Add to this fabulously large bathrooms roll top baths with feature lighting and monsoon showers luxury Sedbergh based Bath House products and you soon realise this could is perfect countryside home from home from which to explore the Lakes and Dales. From the outside we appear to be a simple roadside pub but missing is the Good Food Served All Day sign. We do serve all day from 12pm till 9.00pm and the food in our opinion is very good! A mixture of genuine antique furniture comfy leather sofas and colourful rugs create a rustic farmhouse feel. The Brathay slate topped bar and polished oak floors lead effortlessly in to the light and airy Farleton room made homely by wood burning stoves and open fires. Over the past couple of years our menu has constantly evolved however the focus and style remain the same. Our bar is well stocked offering something for everyone - some of the finest hand pulled local ales and comprehensive wine list many of which are available by the glass along with an extensive selection of spirits and non alcoholic drinks. The local town Kirkby Lonsdale just 4 miles south is by any stretch of the imagination a lovely little market town. Kirkby has retained the traditional charm of individual boutiques and antique shops surrounding the medieval market square ...warning... the credit card may begin to burn. Here is also Devil s Bridge stretched over the river Lune made infamous by the curious story that goes with the name. Other Points of interest are Ruskin s View from the brow behind St Mary s Church which inspired the artist Turner and the author John Ruskin.
