Dales Farm is a traditional stone farmhouse providing quality bed & breakfast accommodation situated in the stunning surroundings of Upper Weardale in the Northern Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Special Scientific Interest - an area often referred to as the last wilderness of England
Being located in the high Pennines we have on our doorstep fantastic walking and cycling (we are just 2 miles off the C2C cycle route). A short car ride will take you to Hadrian s Wall and the Lake District via Hartside Pass which on a clear day will give you unbelievable views of the Eden Valley and in the distance the northern and eastern fells of Lakeland and the Solway Firth
We are an upland smallholding (just under 10 acres) with the oldest part of the house dating back many hundreds of years. Over the years the house has been occupied by lead miners (the main industry in this part of the Pennines in the 18th and 19th Century) who were also subsistance farmers to support and feed their families whilst mining.
This mix of farming with other industries has continued to the present day on small holdings such as Dales Farm. Our farm currently breeds black wensleydale sheep for their wool (the finest and most sought after wool produced by any native sheep) as well as offering the beauty of Weardale to those who wish to sample its delights.
