Nestled in the beautiful Wye Valley in the picturesque village of Tintern the Old Rectory is an 18th Century period home with exquisite river views. Magical Tintern Abbey a short stroll away the Old Rectory is a lovely place to enjoy wonderful landscapes full of beautiful walks along the Wye.
Old Rectory rooms all have lovely views over the river and into the hills beyond. Breakfasts are very special - homemade organic bread and jams fresh fruit salad cereals yoghurt and choices ranging from traditional full breakfast with oak-smoked bacon wonderful sausages free range eggs kippers authentic Arbroath smoked haddock homemade Glamorgan vegetarian sausages cockle and laverbread patties (Welsh specialties) great omelettes and waffles with real maple syrup.
Bedrooms are charmingly appointed with many special touches - free wifi satellite TV Egyptian cotton bed linen coffee/ tea facilities fair-trade products down duvets and pillows (hypoallergenic also available on request) bathrobes and quality toiletries. Many guests mention how very comfortable the beds are and how well they slept.
Summer flowers and beautiful scented roses from our overflowing rose-garden fine china cups many varieties of free trade teas often with homemade cookies or welsh cakes.
Swans can often be seen floating along the river as well as geese ducks hawks otters and an occasional crane .
Woodland birds sing beautifully at dawn and dusk and wildlife in our gardens includes many deer foxes rabbits and hedgehogs perhaps a badger or two.
Rising above the B&B on the hillside the Abbey can be seen - views are even more stunning than the lovely views from the bedrooms lounge and dining room.
There are many seating areas to relax and marvel in the views of our valley. There is even a level with prayer flags fluttering gently in the wind.
