Description

You will get a warm welcome at The Old Rectory (now featured in The English Home ) a classically beautiful Georgian house set in two acres of peaceful garden in a small quiet village in glorious Wiltshire countryside. Just 1.5 hours by train from London and less than 2 hours from Heathrow you will in the perfect spot to explore the southwest of England.

The house is light and beautifully decorated. The sitting is airy bedrooms spacious and comfortable with sprung mattresses bathrobes and hospitality tray with home baked cookies. Bathrooms have quality hypoallergenic toiletries and large fluffy bath towels. The garden has old fashioned roses wisterias a goldfish pond and a lavender lined patio.

We take pride in sourcing the best local produce for our delicious organic breakfasts (we hold a Wiltshire Breakfast Award) served either in the pretty dining room or - weather permitting - al fresco on the patio.

Stonehenge and Avebury are amazing World Heritage Sites within easy drive as is majestic Longleat House grounds and Safari Park stunning Stourhead Gardens and the great cities of Bath Wells and Salisbury.

If you enjoy visiting houses and gardens you will be spoilt for choice. Wells and Salisbury have famous cathedrals and if you are after culture there is plenty around. Many artists hold open studios there are music festivals concerts open air opera literature festivals theatre great pubs and restaurants and much more.

There is wonderful walking cycling golf and horse riding right on the doorstep so if you are looking for an idyllic setting peace and quiet but also want lots to explore you have come to the right place.
