I purchased this to replace an old one where the buttons were wearing and needed a good shove to turn on of off, so I am familiar with the technology. Firstly, they have seemingly upgraded the tech inside the unit. Physically, the unit is still the same, but whereas the older units came as two separate dimmer blocks held together in the frame, the new one is a single block. The electrical connections are similar as before (Live, Load and Slave). However, the unit doesn't operate unless the left hand dimmer is powered, it took me a moment when I powered the right one (the led light on the switch came on) but it didn't operated when I pressed the On button. It only worked when I powered the Left one.

The 'On' and 'Off' operations are much quicker than my old switch, it used to take 2 seconds to go from off to full brightness, now it is around 1/2 second. This switch is LED light compatible, although I am not aware of the minimum wattage for this switch to operate correctly (some of the older switches still needed a minimum wattage otherwise they would not turn off correctly).

Otherwise they are smart looking, still need a deep wall box to accomodate the wire and the unit. It integrates with the LightWaveRF Wifi unit and remotes without any problem whatsoever. I prefer the new switch due to the speed of operation. I hope they have made the electronics more electrically surge and spike resistant (not that I lost any switches that way).

For those that are wondering, yes these new 400 series will drive a single 7w Gu10 led (aurora) A bit expensive and could dim down to zero, also dimming speed could be a little quicker, but good overall.

We ended up having to return these switches and hub. Our electrician called the customer helpline numerous times because our LED bulbs were constantly on or flickering, even using dimmable LED bulbs the light switches would not function correctly. The customer helpline suggested that we switch to halogen bulbs which nobody in their right mind would buy for multiple spots and which are becoming obsolete! After many attempts to try to get the system to work, and at extra costs, we decided that the switches were not fit for purpose and amazon honoured a refund. The technology in the switches simply doesn’t perform as it should and the cost is not commensurate with the product received. My recommendation would be save yourselves time and money - don’t purchase.

Fantastic. Set up was challenging...press the link button on the hub on first setup with the iPhone app. I spent hours trying to set up, thirty different accounts set up and then after a call with the tech team they said, press link on the first registration! Been great ever since.

Stateless behaviour means the app and the hub and lights dont agree on their state and you can't integrate sensibly with other home automation. Plus the style is not liked by family with the lights and the dimming speed far too slow. Will have to use fibraro dimmers and make up my own switches even if it means digging out deeper backing boxes.

Careful with lightwave products, I have most of them now and in my opinion they are not quite ready for production release.
For example this dimmer (I have 3) do not dim to 3% as they claim, more like 70-100% at best, I have tested them with 3 types of LED's with the same result. AND, have tested the same LED's with another brand and they did dim down to 3% or close. Also the back plates of these dimmers are cheap plastic and bend if the wall is not very flat, which none on mine are. (new home).
ALL the timer functions on their products have a habit of forgetting their timer settings and have to be frequently (weekly on average) re-synced.
The support system is useless, they just read from scripts and have no real understanding of how their systems work. And the latest APP while it works ok, is just the worst bit of design I have ever seen. It;s just designed to look good and not be used. Fortunately I managed to get the old version back on my iPhone. And oh yes don't expect the web sync to work between the iPhone and android devices. I did work once, and that was it. The support people never responded to my queries on this one.
The QA system also needs an upgrade as so far I have had to return 2 out of 3 PIR's.

If you can live with all these defects the overall system works ok and is good value. Fortunatly I am very technical minded so have found ways round most problems.

Happy with the product overall ,
Had a small problem with one of the sockets that they don't tell you about ,

My socket was next to a virgin cable coming into the house which must have affected the signal on the socket ,
Once I knew what the problem was I just put the socket front els where,
I am in the process of buying more sockets and light switches For the house so would recommend this product
