- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 March 2016Some solid information about Kyuss, Queens and the Desert Sessions, as well as drip-feeding you Homme's various other projects. But while the book is great, it repeats the same information far too often and feels like it's there to pad the book out. Well worth a read though.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 March 2022I agree with some of the other comments, that the read is repetitive and don’t feel the need for in-depth song analysis on the albums. If you’re a fan , chances are you’ve heard the songs already!
Picks up a bit when Dave Grohl assists on SFTD but other than that I found a lack of band stories (just lots of quotes that make Josh and Nick sound more like members of Spinal Tap!) and in general quite a hard going boring read.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2023The author just dug through old interviews for this book and the language he uses to string them together is monotonous and lacks thought. I've read better authored fan fiction.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 September 2017I been a fan since Kyuss, the Kyuss stuff is a good read as little is known about them. However the QOTSA is drawn out. Not very in depth and little on the road stories. Gets fluffy around why Nick O got fired. This is not written well. Most of it is a run down of how the songs on each album sound like? If we have listened to the music we probably already know that.
If you like a warts and all book with lots of outrageous anecdotes about rock roll mis-advantage, stop after the Kyuss part. One of the most boring band biographies I have read and I have read a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excited to finish
I haven't got to get too deep in to it but I love the in-depth history. QOTSA is my fav.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tells the QOTSA story, but with mediocre writing
The good: told the QOTSA story in detail.
The bad: the author is not a great writer.
