TORX 2.0 COOLER

Just like in the game, the exclusive MSI TORX 2.0 technology uses the power of teamwork. This means TWIN FROZR VI climbs a new level of performance in graphics card cooling. TORX 2.0 coolers generate 22% more air pressure and are at the same time significantly quieter.

Dual ball bearings give the unique MSI TORX 2.0 fans a strong and durable base for years of trouble-free gaming. By using advanced aerodynamics, the airflow control technology directs more air to the TWIN FROZR VI heat pipes. The special arresters on the heat sink increase its surface, which noticeably positively influences both the temperature and the performance. MSI GAMING Graphics Cards utilize a solid nickel-plated copper baseplate to regulate heat emitted by powerful GPUs. The baseplate absorbs the heat from the GPU and then transfers it to the heat pipes for optimal cooling of the GPU.

Awesome card but MSI's QC is shocking

Awesome card but MSI's QC is shocking
I purchased the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Sea Hawk EK X edition, which is the model that comes with the attached EK water block to go with my custom loop (as these reviews seem to consolidate a number of different models).First of all the water block itself is stunning to look at and looks considerably nicer than my EVGA 980 Ti with EK water block that it replaced. On the front of this card the water block has a large amount of see-though acrylic and a metal panel with 'MSI dragon' printed on it. The back of the card has a matte black metal finish, also with the 'MSI dragon' printed on it. My PC case is reversed so I can see the acrylic side of the card, which I actually prefer to the matte black rear of the card. What really caught me off guard was the sheer size of this card - it is absolutely enormous compared the 980 Ti! It's still a dual slot width card but the card dimensions are 278 x 165 mm compared to my 980Ti which was 266.7 x 111.15 mm. Just check that it will fit in your case because it really is huge. After rinsing out the water block with distilled water and attaching it to my loop I powered on my PC and booted into Windows. I have to admit I was a little surprised, and, very disappointed to see the card idling at 40 degrees (for reference my 980 Ti would hit 45 degrees under load and idle at 30 degrees and that was a 250W TDP card). I decided to do some benchmarks and stress testing and discovered that that the card would spike to 60 degrees almost immediately and then settle at 65 degrees. This is clearly not good for a water cooled card and isn't far off air cooled temperatures so at this stage I was considering an RMA.This kind of temperature is normally symptomatic of poor contact with the water block. Strangely enough there was a tube of EK Ectotherm paste in the box with the card which I thought was unusual when opening the box. Anyway, I carefully removed the water block and to my horror discovered that the water block was barely making contact with the GPU die! I cleaned what little paste was on the GPU and water block off with Isopropyl Alcohol and then applied some of the supplied thermal paste, in a star shape, which is what EK recommend for GPUs. I reassembled the card and put it back into the PC. After booting into Windows the card was idling at 31 degrees... much better. I performed some benchmarks and stress testing and the card maxed at 42 degrees so I was way happier with this. This is an awesome card which runs pretty much at max boost without throttling and it looks amazing but it's absolutely shambolic that MSI sell such an expensive card with such poor QC. I'm very happy with the card now but I feel I am not sure if I have made the right decision to move away from EVGA when their QC and after sales support has been second to none.I'd highly recommend this card based on its looks and its performance but just be warned about the thermal paste issue! As a result of this I'm knocking off a star as I shouldn't have had to fix a brand new product!UPDATE 01/10/2017: I forgot to mention in my original review that this card runs at just over 1900 MHz out of the box with no tweaking at all. I have since overclocked the card to a rock solid 2115 MHz on the GPU and 11110 MHz on the RAM. The GPU does hit 2150MHz but as the temps hover around 45 degrees the cards clock speed fluctuates between 2100 and 2150 MHz. Unfortunately the Pascal architecture is built in such a way that it will always throttle if it hits its temp, power or voltage limit and there doesn't appear to any more head room left in this card. As with all things based on the silicon lottery, your mileage will vary!

I upgraded my PC with new motherboard, cpu, RAM and GPU. I upgraded from a 970 4g to this beast of a card.
I play games on a 58inch 4K HDR 60hz panel. I play everything at 4K. There isn't a game I can't max out with this card. Obviously AA isn't necessary with the top games. I've compared them with and without AA and the end result is exactly the same. This card is so powerful it runs at 4K with AA without any problem. But it's a waste of power.
The card has plenty of headroom for overclocking but I just don't need it at present as it copes effortlessly at factory settings.
It runs perfectly quietly and without any undue heat issues
I read magazines in disbelief when they talk about what is needed to run games at 4K. To be honest I've never read so much rubbish in my life. I could runs games easily at 4K with the 970. It just got easier with the 1070. Games like Witcher 3, fallout 4, GTA 5 run like a dream maxed out at 4K. Obviously this wouldn't be so with a 30hz panel. I have read that the 1080 can't run some games at 4K. Given that it's more powerful than the 1070 I can only conclude that this is complete garbage.
In the right set up this card will comfortably run your games at 4K. I don't need to run frame rate tests. I use my eyes. In GTA 5, I drive around at blistering speeds with everything maxed out. It never slows and frame rates are rock solid. This is just one example of what this card is easily capable of.
In conclusion The 1070 8g is a superb card for 4K gaming.
    Seeing is believing.
I just wanted to update my review. I have been playing Witcher 3 again. I updated the game with the HD reworked graphics mod. At 4K maxed out (AA not needed) the game looks absolutely incredible. I can't believe my eyes when I play. Sometimes I just ride around the countryside to take in the eyecandy. It's breathtaking. So this is why I'm playing the game again.
The gaming X 8 G is an absolutely incredible card. I've not needed to OC it as it has so much power. I've been playing horizon dawn on my new ps4 pro. I'm playing at 4K and the games looks excellent. But when I compared that game to the Witcher it's chalk and cheese. Obviously that's how,it should be as this card costs more than a pro. But it simply illustrates what a great card this is. For true 4K gaming then this the card you want.

Great graphics card! I upgraded from a 750 ti in my prebuilt pc because titles like rust were starting to become unplayable with lag spikes and they had a low frame-rate (about 40-30 with drops to 0 fps). I was looking online to see what graphics card i should get and i decided on the 1050 ti as to it's great performance, affordable price, 4 GBs of Vram and small form factor.
I found this card with great reviews and many people praising how good the performance is on 1080p and also that it ran very quiet. However, one of the problems i encountered was that it needed a 300 watt power supply. As i had a 270 watt psu i decided to play it safe and got better higher wattage evga power-supply although i think it would of ran just fine with the 270 watt psu as it only draws in power from the motherboard. It was also a bonus for me as this is quite a small card because my case is a smaller form factor than usual and it wouldn't fit in full sized graphics cards.

Installing this graphics card was a breeze and the drivers were on a physical disk so they were easy to install. With the graphics card installed i got around 50% more fps in games and in some cases like rust (games that use plenty of video memory) i got around 80 fps from around 30 with no more frame drops! I was also worried if my i3-4160 would bottleneck the card but so far it runs perfectly with over 60 fps on almost every modern title (except the frame-rate is a little lower on high CPU demanding games like gta 5). Overall i think this card is a perfect for 1080p gaming although i would recommend getting a better CPU to get the most performance out the card (like an i3-7100 at least, although it will run just fine with a CPU like mine). I highly recommend this graphics card as it is probably one of the best price to performance cards out right now!

TL;DR - Very good card but all 1070's will max out at the same performance due to how overclocking functions with the 10 series. BUY YOUR IDEAL MANUFACTURER FOR THE WARRANTY / SERVICE!

Overall this is a very good card but make sure you do your research. Nearly all the 1070's will perform at the same performance and overclock very similarly, depending on your silicon lottery. You should choose your 1070 based on Price and Warranty/RMA.

PSA - ALL 1070's WILL RUN AT A MAX OF 2.1GHZ ON THE CORE CLOCK. Some cards can clock higher but they will ALL downclock to ~2.1ghz due to how gpu boost 3.0 functions. Due to this, if you get LUCKY, you could buy a 980ti and overclock it to be faster than a 1070 but as it is older tech, it will not perform at the same level as a 1070 in dx12.

The best warranty providers and customer service :
    - EVGA, hands down #1, if anyone tells you different i will be shocked.
    - MSI a close #2, below EVGA but way above the rest.
    - The rest significantly below, not build/quality wise but customer service and warranty wise. Take care when buying any other companies version and do your research.

    Pros :
    - Amazing card, very good performance/price ratio, especially when compared to the 1080
    - Can overclock the card to 1080 performance. Memory overclocks very well.
    - Runs VERY quiet and cool. MSI uses a system where the fans are off until 60 degrees. It's currently summer so my room averages at around ~25 degrees. Idle ~32, full load/gaming ~58-64 (normally hover at 60 as the fans kick in).
    - Amazing performance as a single card. SLI/crossfire currently has issue's in games (both amd+nvidia).

    Cons :
    - Only really overclocks at max core clock boost to ~2.1ghz. (Have not tested my max memory clock, currently +800mhz seems stable)
    - Very pricey but cheaper than the EVGA currently. (unless your lucky and pre-ordered the EVGA when it was £409 via amazon)

    Assolutamente NO!

    Assolutamente NO!
