Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Very reasonable price, and very basic. Purchased two of these, one as a replacement and one as a spare, for a customer's RAID array. The server is an extremely dirty prep room setting in a plant nursery. That makes the RAID array imperative along with backup operations for key files. These drives are the perfect vehicle for creating the necessary redundancy on that system. Plug and play for reasonably priced and adequately performing hard drives.
I purchased this hard drive to replace a hard drive that was failing in our server. This one was defective when it arrived. I took a chance and ordered another one from Aeon and the second one worked just fine. Aeon claimed that the one I returned passed their testing but since I bought a replacement from them, they would refund my money. At first they refunded the cost of the hard drive, then after I asked them, they also refunded the shipping cost. I don't know how the drive could have passed their testing when it failed repeatedly when it arrived. I even had our IT consultant test it with a Seagate app that they use and it failed their testing as well. Don't think I would purchase another hard drive from Aeon.
Ordered as a direct, Dell OEM equivalent drive for a failed unit in a RAID 10 array on a Dell PE T710 server. This drive will not negotiate a raw SATA connection with the controller higher than 1.5Gbps (half the nominal speed). This is despite attempts to reseat the drive, cold boots of the server, etc. Even in another drive cage slot, the unit still negotiates a 1.5Gbps speed max.
