For Valour: (Nick Stone Thriller 16) (Nick Stone, 16) Audio CD – CD, 23 Oct. 2014
When a young trooper is shot in the head at the Regiment’s renowned Killing House, Nick Stone is perfectly qualified to investigate the mysterious circumstances more deeply. He has just returned from Moscow – still trying to come to terms with the fact that his girlfriend and baby son are safer there without him – so combines an unrivalled understanding of the Special Forces landscape with a detachment that should allow him to remain in cover.
But less than forty-eight hours later, a second death catapults him back into the firing line – into the telescopic sights of an unknown assassin bent on protecting a secret that could strike at the heart of the establishment that Stone has, in his maverick fashion, spent most of his life fighting to protect.
And now the clock is ticking, Stone hurtles from the solitude of a remote Welsh confessional to Glencoe – whose shadows still whisper of murder and betrayal – and on to Southern Spain, in an increasingly desperate quest to uncover the truth about a chain of events that began in the darkness of an Afghan hillside, and left a young man haunted by the never-ending screams of a friend the Taliban skinned alive.
Nick Stone’s most heart-stopping adventure yet will force the reader to recognise the thinness of the line that separates sacrifice from suicide, to share the nightmares that walk hand in hand with heroism – and to count the real cost of actions taken in the name of loyalty.

About the author
Andy McNab joined the infantry as a boy soldier. In 1984 he was 'badged' as a member of 22 SAS Regiment and was involved in both covert and overt special operations worldwide.
During the Gulf War he commanded Bravo Two Zero, a patrol that, in the words of his commanding officer, 'will remain in regimental history for ever'. Awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM) during his military career, McNab was the British Army's most highly decorated serving soldier when he finally left the SAS in February 1993. He wrote about his experiences in three books: the phenomenal bestseller Bravo Two Zero, Immediate Action and Seven Troop.
He is the author of the bestselling Nick Stone thrillers. Besides his writing work, he lectures to security and intelligence agencies in both the USA and UK. He is a patron of the Help for Heroes campaign.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2014I agree with all the reviews good and bad. I have read the whole series of Nick Stone adventures and enjoyed them all.
Like real life I am afraid we all slow down and this is what has happened to Nick. So in away the book makes sense, hard to swallow but that is how it is. It is a very hard line story played out in a hard way all smoke and mirrors but not the Nick we are used to, he must be in his fifties!
Where to now, I have read other AM books but not the latest ones, as I was hanging on to Nick and I guess whilst one of us is still alive I will carry on being a fan. Next adventure? Nick has made it clear that he is a wealthy man now and finally has a family that have not been killed off yet. So there is plenty to get on with and hopefully we can all look forward to Nick's retirement. I just hope he is not killed off like Agatha Christie killing off Poirot.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 November 2014I eagerly awaited the latest Nick Stone offering from Andy Mcnab and as always, I wasn't disappointed. I love the insider detail and all the technical details along with how he describes everything in detail without it taking away from what he's talking about.
You instantly like or dislike the characters as you should depending on whether they are good or bad and I love the way the baddies all receive nicknames from the off depending on the situation once introduced. You feel for characters when they die or things happen to them as well which is a sign of great writing.
As always I recommend this to Mcnab fans as it's a great read that's hard to put down, but also to military fans and thriller fans in general, or anyone that just likes to read good books.
Roll on the next Andy

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2015I have read all of the Nick Stone stories to date and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. This story is slightly different, in that it feels reflective about Nick's life so far, and this time he is lucky to emerge from the situations in which he finds himself, but then we all need some luck now and then, don't we. The plot is typical Nick stone, the story is well researched, and whilst it jumps around a bit, it does so for a reason. Good story Andy McNab, I read it in two days, so I clearly enjoyed the book.
I do fear for Nick's future though, so I would like to send a message to Andy McNab to say that Nick has had a hard life, he deserves some happiness and peace, so whatever happens in the future, I hope that it is something that Nick will be happy with, rather than him being killed off.
Great series Andy, after finishing each book, I have waited impatiently for the next one, and I have never been disappointed, but it feels like Nick is
reaching a major milestone in his life and I have no idea what he will do next. But, I can't wait to find out........................................
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 November 2014Excellent book from Mcnab. In my opinion, this was much better than the previous nick stone book silencer. Whilst For Valour ranks highly among the stone series, i feel its not the best plot, but still an excellent read. i liked the different locations, and links between himself and other characters back to stones days in the sas. Although after reading all of the other books in the series, i am wondering why we haven't been introduced to the father before. looking forward to the next stone book next year.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 July 2023I love a Nick Stone novel and this is just as tense and exciting as all the previous ones.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 July 2023It was ok but not one of his best to much about Serbia and the war in Bosnia . I got bored .

3.0 out of 5 stars Un po' deludente

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Really great book. Good story well told and written. As always from McNab realistically told and not like Hollywood heroes
