Nestling in the picturesque Welsh countryside but in a semi rural location the Mount Pleasant has undergone a period of extensive refurbishment.The gardens overlook some breathtaking scenery. Locally known as The Black The Mount Pleasant Inn is steeped in history. Its name is attributed to its links with the Black Lion Sidings which once controlled the endless stream of coal leaving Merthyr Vale Colliery.
Now the valley has returned to its former beauty we can offer an array of attractions for all types of guests. We are a 5 bedroom fully en suite family run family friendly B & B accommodation located 18 miles from Cardiff and at the gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Ideal for walkers and cyclists we are adjacent to the famous Taff Trail 10 minutes from the Welsh International Climbing Centre and the area is renowned for hand gliding and paragliding. Merthyr Tydfil was once the Iron capital of the world and is rich in culture and hosts a catalogue of attractions including the famous route of the first steam hauled railway journey by Richard Trevithick in 1804 Cyfarthfa Castle and the Brecon Mountain Railway
